The 42-story Smith Tower is a Seattle Landmark and helped shape
the city's skyline history. The building offers unique tenant spaces
with spectacular views of Elliott Bay, the Cascade and Olympic Mountains,
and Mt. Rainier.
Smith Tower had a $28 million renovation in 1999 which included
the installation of a fiber optic telecommunications system and
a complete seismic upgrade. The original brass and copper caged
elevators are still run by uniformed elevator operators.
The 35th floor Chinese Room has furnishings that were gifts from
the Empress of China, and is available to rent for events. An Observation
Deck, offering breathtaking views of the city and mountains is open
to the public for a nominal fee.
